If you are in a location where temperature can really shoot up, then the first thing that might come to your mind is to cool down your property using an air conditioning unit.  However, using your air conditioning unit always will definitely lower down the temperature but will shoot up your electric bills in return.  So you may start thinking whether it is possible to cool your property without using your air conditioning unit?  The answer is yes.

The following steps are the things that you can do in order to cool the property without suffering from expensive bills.

First is to understand the nature.  Everyone has been thought in Science subjects that the sun rises to the east and sets at the west.  What you can do is to make is to close the windows where the sun rises to prevent too much sunlight from entering the property and make sure that the windows on the west side is open.  Do the reverse if the sun is already setting.  In this way, you will stop the heat from entering the house while promoting proper ventilation.

Next, you might want to use some cheaper cooling appliances like electric fans.  The mechanism of how fans make us cool is that it produces air to make our sweat evaporate.  The evaporating effect on our body is the process that makes us cool.  During night time, what you can do is to keep the windows open while leaving the fan running.  In this way, you will have two modes of ventilation that will work together in keeping you cool.

Third is you can use other evaporative coolers.  What it does is that it will spray water while the industrial fans will blow air on the mist of water.  In this way, there will be a process of evaporation and produce a cooling effect in your house.  This will not use up a lot of water and considering the expense that you have to pay in electricity; this type of coolers will definitely save you a lot in your electric bills.  These can also work like any regular fans if you will turn off the water spray.  Again, keeping your windows open at night will also help these fans in cooling you down.

As an additional tip, you may want to keep the cool air circulating inside the house by using curtains and drapes.  With this, you will keep give shade inside your house to promote a cooler environment that will help in making you comfortable.

Doing these will definitely cool your home without spending too much on electricity.  Keep in mind that since it is too hot, it will only make your air conditioning unit work hard and thus use up more electricity.
